The use of the internet to market lawyers has been popular since about the year 2000 as Google and Yahoo had emerged as dominant in the use of search to find lawyers and other licensed professionals.

There was a time where  I generated over 30,000 leads to a handful of lawyers.  In 2002-4, I was one of the first lawyers in the USA who wrote, published and coauthored 4 articles on SEO Marketing which were published in peer-reviewed academic journals.  I explained the significance of website coding, ethics, keywords, metadata, descriptive, key phrase issues, SEO tools, and many other hot topics of the time.

The cost of PPC Pay Per Click marketing for lawyers and law schools has skyrocketed over the last 20 years.  These days, just one click through can cost as much as $50 dollars, and some law schools and attorneys are spending from $100-300 dollars per customer on average in marketing and recruiting

The key legal marketing issues today are having a relevant and memorable domain name for your practice along with integrating your domain with the webmaster tools of Microsoft and Google.

The beauty of a branded geographical domain is that it keeps on paying you money for the rest of your career.  Once you have a domain up and running that is in the top search results for a city or region, it provides a lifetime annuity of customers. Even browser searches can lead customers and phone search has been huge for years.

While a domain name may not seem that has great worth for lawyers and other professionals,  the value is strictly calculated as to the leads and phone calls generated.  If any domain is producing 50-100 phone calls or contact forms per month, you need to multiply that number times what a client would pay in revenue. 

Thus, 100 new contact forms per month at $200 dollars per client, would be an extra $200,000 dollars per year in revenue. Over a period of 10 years, that is an extra 2 million in revenue from ethical, domain-name website marketing. If you have one client with an injury, that can generate hundreds of thousands of dollars for your practice.  The best news is that the domains work for you 24 hours a day.
