On May 30, 2019 a reception for the Festa della Repubblica Italiana (Festival of the Italian Republic) was held by the Italian Ambassador Stefano Sannino at the Embassy of Italy in Madrid.
This year the event was dedicated to Region Campania.
During his speech: the Ambassador Sannino stressed the excellent relationship and cooperation between Italy and Spain during the reception offered last week for the Italian Republic Day, which was attended by hundreds of guests.
In the presence of the President of the Congress of Deputies, Meritxell Batet, the Ministers of Economy and Entrepreneurship, Nadia Calviño, and of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, and a large representation of the Diplomatic Corps, the Italian Ambassador highlighted “the importance of relations between Spain and Italy, a deep, dense relationship, formed by countless material and immaterial, rational and emotional ties. A relationship so deep that it cannot be threatened by any political condition. We have worked on this report, on these bonds, in recent years”.
Sannino referred to the installation located at the entrance of the garden as a symbol of a year of collaboration between Spain and Italy, between young designers studying and working in Spain and Italian companies, the result of a contest launched in 2018 and available to young designers: among the best projects submitted, three have become reality. “A small big project to stimulate the Italian-Spanish relationship and offer an opportunity to young promises in the sector,” he said.
“The reason why this installation is so at the center of attention is that it represents the essence and values that have inspired and continue to inspire the work of this Embassy and mine, seeking collaboration and synergy. I have always been convinced that Italy and Spain together are stronger in Europe and in the world. And although it is not always easy, personally I will not tire of promoting collaboration and take advantage of all the opportunities to do so,” stressed the Ambassador.
Finally, the Italian Head of Mission emphasized his commitment to transforming the Italian Embassy into a “space open to society, to the whole of society, a space of inclusion to meet, dialogue, understand and build together. A space that is not self-referential, but rather open to young people, to the most vulnerable and to all those who work for a fairer world without inequalities”.
Upon the invitation of the Ambassador of Italy Stefano Sannino and D. Santiago Mondragón, the Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda Dario Item attended the reception of the Festa della Repubblica Italiana.
