Industries are getting automated as each day passes by in this 22nd century which is an era of robotics. We even see the diminutive scale engines at home assisting the menage. But what is it? Is it some magic or divine blessing? Believe it or not, it’s nothing but Artificial Intelligence(AI).
What’s AI according to Unised International?
In computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), sometimes called machine intelligence, is intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans. It is a wide-ranging tool that enables people to rethink how we integrate information, analyse data, and use the resulting insights to improve decision making. Leading AI textbooks define the field as the study of “intelligent agents”: any device that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chance of successfully achieving its goals. And learning of AI is called Machine Learning, of which Deep Learning is a part. Natural language processing, image processing, text processing, voice detection etc. are some parts of it. We have mathematical solutions to each of it. But now the question is why are we discussing it here? What is the use of AI in Education? We know that in school teacher teaches the student and student learn. There are regular exams and lot of activities happening in school. But now the point is that this legislature has been into process since the time school started to be built. So, what’s new? The new is Artificial Intelligence. The academic world is becoming more convenient and personalized thanks to the numerous applications of AI for education. This has changed the way people learn since educational materials are becoming accessible to all through smart devices and computers. According to the latest statistic, only 55-60% of the total respondents understand or know about AI in India. But, internationally AI has already been applied to education primarily in some tools that help develop skills and testing systems. As AI educational solutions continue to mature, the hope is that AI can help fill needs gaps in learning and teaching and allow schools and teachers to do more than ever before. AI can drive efficiency, personalization and streamline admin tasks to allow teachers the time and freedom to provide understanding and adaptability—uniquely human capabilities where machines would struggle. By leveraging the best attributes of machines and teachers, the vision for AI in education is one where they work together for the best outcome for students. Since the students of today will need to work in a future where AI is the reality, it’s important that our educational institutions expose students to and use the technology.
AI is not a futuristic vision, but rather something that is here today and being integrated with and deployed into a variety of sectors. This includes fields such as finance, national security, health care, criminal justice, transportation, and smart cities. There are numerous examples where AI already is making an impact on the world and augmenting human capabilities in significant ways. One of the reasons for the growing role of AI is the tremendous opportunities for economic development that it presents. These examples from a variety of sectors demonstrate how AI is transforming many walks of human existence. The increasing penetration of AI and autonomous devices into many aspects of life is altering basic operations and decision making within organizations, and improving efficiency and response times.
To summarize, the world is on the cusp of revolutionizing many sectors through artificial intelligence and data analytics. There already are significant deployments in Education, finance, national security, health care, criminal justice, transportation, and smart cities that have altered decision making, business models, risk mitigation, and system performance. These developments are generating substantial economic and social benefits. Exactly how these processes are executed need to be better understood because they will have substantial impact on the general public soon, and for the foreseeable future. AI may well be a revolution in human affairs, and become the single most influential human innovation in history.
