Android is simplifying the process of sharing files, switching devices, and maintaining secure connections with its latest updates.
Share with anyone, on any device
Transferring photos or videos between various phones can often be a hassle, particularly when friends and family utilize different platforms. To address this issue, Quick Share is now becoming compatible with AirDrop on supported Android devices, beginning with Pixel phones and extending to brands such as Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi, and HONOR later this year.
For devices that currently lack support for this feature, Quick Share can create a QR code on any Android phone. This enables files to be shared instantly with iPhones via the cloud. The rollout has already commenced and is expected to reach all Android devices within the next month. Support within applications like WhatsApp is also anticipated soon.
Easier switch from iPhone to Android
Transitioning from iPhone to Android is becoming significantly more seamless. The revised transfer process now facilitates wireless migration of passwords, photos, messages, apps, contacts, and even home screen layouts. eSIM transfer support is also included.
The enhanced experience will initially be available on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel smartphones later this year.
More secure messaging
Secure communication remains a key priority, especially with approximately 2.5 billion RCS messages being sent each day. End-to-end encryption for RCS chats between Android and iOS devices is now being rolled out, enhancing the safety and privacy of personal conversations.
