AYYA Android Smartphones are Released in Russia

The largest provider of digital services in Russia, Rostelecom, along with high-tech military developer Rostec, have started producing smartphones, or AYYA T1, that are protected from data leaks. Its foundation is the Aurora mobile operating system, which Rostelecom also developed.

Corporate customers can choose between two phone models: one with Aurora OS and the other with Android 11. At the end of 2023, the office worker-focused fifth iteration of Aurora was released.

The AYYA T1 is unique in that its hardware shutdown feature prevents cameras and microphones from collecting data without authorization. Simultaneously, the network access and instant messaging functionality are preserved. The gadgets are currently on sale and can be had for a special introductory price of just ₽11,000 (US$140).

Features of AYYA Smartphones

An Arm Cortex-A73/A53 chip and an 8-core MediaTek Helio P70 processor power the smartphone. contains a built-in 64 GB of storage, a 4,000 mAh battery, and 4 GB of RAM.

AYYA T1 has a metal frame and a plastic body. Available colors are black, blue and dark green. The display is 6.55 inches with a resolution of 1600×720, that is, HD+. The screen refresh rate is 60 Hz. It is usually recommended to buy smartphones with a frequency not lower than this value.

There is a dual 12-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel front camera. The device has multiple sensors, a Type-C connector, and NFC support.

Russian equipment production has been attempting to shift its focus from imports to local production. Russian-made products are starting to gain traction in the Russian consumer market, as evidenced by the AYYA phone. The phone has already appeared on Western “coolest new smartphone” blogs, and user and tech reviews have been positive.
