CEO Carl Pei Hints At Collaboration With Humane, Creator Of Ai Pin

Nothing CEO Carl Pei has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to potential collaboration with Ai Pin creator Humane. The post included a screenshot of a WhatsApp group conversation between Pei and the latter’s two co-founders Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno.

Regretfully, not much came out of the conversation, but the fact that both parties were excited to announce this development to the public suggests that something significant was under way. For now, it is still anyone’s guess on what kind of collaboration that Nothing and Humane are planning on, but it is very likely to involve consumer technology.

Humane introduced its inaugural product, the Ai Pin, in November 2023. The gadget is designed to be a smartphone alternative, taking the form of a compact device that can be worn on shirts, jackets and so on.

Ai Pin features the ability to make as well as receive calls, project an interactive laser interface on your palm, use built-in generative AI to help with your day-to-day tasks, and even snap photos via its onboard camera. The device is set to ship out in the US sometime this year and there are no plans to release it internationally, at least for now.

Remarkably, Pei said that he will see the founder of Meta “in the arena” and that he is currently “trying stuff” in response to a post on X a day earlier about Mark Zuckerberg’s impression of Apple’s newly released Vision Pro headset. Though it’s unclear if this has anything to do with today’s teaser, this implies that Nothing or the CEO’s other endeavors might potentially enter the AR/VR or Mixed Reality scene as well.

Meanwhile, on a somewhat related note, Nothing has recently confirmed that it will be launching the Phone (2a) via a live stream on 5 March 2024. It is the brand’s third smartphone release, and is intended to be an affordable midrange entry to its.
