A new “record mode” that can record meeting notes, brainstorming ideas, or even impromptu thoughts is one of the productivity-focused changes that OpenAI has added to ChatGPT. Users of ChatGPT Team can now access this tool, which automatically transcribes recordings with timestamps, highlights important action items, and arranges content for convenient access.
Additionally, files saved on popular cloud services like Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, SharePoint, and OneDrive can now be accessed by ChatGPT. Users can pose queries like “How often did I take the ferry during my trip to Italy?” or “What were our Q1 earnings last year?” The AI will respect current file permissions established at the organizational level while extracting pertinent information from the documents and displaying results with source citations.
Currently, only users of ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, or Edu—OpenAI’s academic-focused plan—can access these functionalities. With an annual commitment for a minimum of two users, ChatGPT Team, which is targeted for smaller organizations and collaborative teams, costs $25 per user per month.
The enhancements are a component of OpenAI’s larger plan to establish a dominant position in the enterprise AI market. Clients like Canva, PwC, The Estée Lauder Companies, and Block have joined ChatGPT Enterprise since its inception in 2023. The company now serves over 3 million paying business users, up from 2 million just a few months ago, thanks to the arrival of ChatGPT Team in early 2024.
Large companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Anthropic are competing with OpenAI in the rapidly expanding enterprise AI sector, which is expected to generate over $1 trillion in revenue over the next seven years.
