FOUNDER OF EAT.FIT.REPEAT, RUCHI SHARMA : A NUTRITIONIST WHO ADVOCATES WELL-BEING BY NUTRITION AND EXERCISE

In changing times, health is the first priority! But amidst so many fads and myths about diets or exercises, it gets difficult to adopt a good routine. On this mission to provide simple science and smarter eating strategies to empower you to enjoy a healthy and successful lifestyle, Ruchi Sharma, a nutritionist by profession, a foodie, and the founder of EAT FIT REPEAT is here to give you a quick sneak peek about healthy living, her journey and more. As an online consultancy, EAT FIT REPEAT has over 400 clients in 9 countries and is now spilling the beans for you about the ways you can take care of your health better with nutrition and exercise.

Tell us something about yourself Ruchi.

I am a resident of Udaipur, Rajasthan. I have done a course of Communication Designing from Symbiosis Institute of Pune and have a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Pune University.
I am a mother of a 5 year old.

So how did you become a nutritionist?

After I became a mother, I realised the importance of nutrition in our lives. In the quest of finding a sustainable diet for myself, I applied for certain certification courses related to nutrition.

When was EAT.FIT.REPEAT. born and how has its journey been?

The journey of EAT FIT REPEAT started after my postpartum in 2018.
After completing one of my many certifications, I started applying the science of fat loss on my family & friends and once we began observing significant results, it gave me the confidence to make this field my profession.
As they say, better late than never. I am so glad I have found my calling.
Fitness enthrals me.
After I started lifting weights, my outlook about well-being has changed immensely.
Self-love and motivation are the two key factors which play a vital role in any person’s transformation.
We have a clientele spread across 9 countries.
But I wish to take EAT FIT REPEAT to a new scale and serve people globally.

What would you suggest to a beginner on the onset of his/her fitness journey?

People find it difficult to kickstart their fitness journeys, as they believe that it would require crucial changes.
In reality, your fitness journey can easily slide in your normal routine with just a few slight tweaks.
Set a simple goal.
Be realistic and practical.
Mend a few lifestyle habits.
And just begin.
Enjoy this journey without stressing too much about the end results.

What are the core elements of a healthy diet chart?

For healthy living, one needs to plan a diet chart that includes all food groups.
You must obtain this energy from nutrients in the food that you eat – mostly, carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
Minerals and vitamins are other nutrients that are also important in your diet to help your body stay healthy. It is important to find the right balance between these different nutrients to achieve maximum health benefits. In addition to this, one must even ensure fibre and water intake to balance the nutrients in a holistic way!

What are the aspects you focus on at EFR?

Being a nutritionist was once a dream for me, and now it has become a living reality. But during this transition, I have realised that you can never force your body to lose weight, you need to create an environment that allows it to lose weight. We all need a smart food structure that adds value to our health and our life. Hence, at EFR we focus on changing the lifestyle which is the best, easy and sustainable way to lose/gain or maintain a healthy weight and prevent or cure a disease.

Two thoughts on fad diets.

I have seen that it is a common notion that fad diets can help you lose weight quickly. However, in reality it’s very common to gain weight after a crash diet as one is not going to burn calories or fat in the long run. One may see the diet working in the short run maybe through a decrease in the number on the scale, but it won’t improve your overall health outcomes. Hence, I suggest my clients to not fall for these diet fads. A proper balanced diet, workout regime and controlled calories can help one with their weight loss!

How important is exercising?

Exercise is a very important part of weight management practice.
I recommend my clients to make regular exercise a part of their regime, as it helps in controlling the weight by burning excess calories that would otherwise be stored as fat.
You can choose any form of physical activity—
-weight training
-sports
-planned exercise
-running
-yoga or
-Pilates
All are beneficial if you are consistent.
You will gain significant health benefits if you can accumulate 30 minutes or more of physical activity per day.
Regular physical activity, combined with healthy eating habits, is the utmost efficient and healthy way to control your weight.

What are your plans for future at EAT FIT REPEAT?

With EAT FIT REPEAT, my goal is to form a practical approach towards the science of nutrition and to make it available for everyone who wishes to follow a healthy lifestyle.
This could even help in keeping medicines at bay, if it is persistently followed.
I believe it is the right balance of nutrients that keeps you healthy inside-out.
So overall, I wish to bring forth my knowledge of nutrition and positively touch lives in a way that their well-being and health is properly managed.

What should people expect when coming to EAT FIT REPEAT?

Eat Fit Repeat aims at providing realistic nutrition to people who are looking for a better lifestyle for themselves- physically, mentally and emotionally.
The ideology behind naming Eat Fit Repeat is-
EAT refers to eating everything we have been having while growing up and not eliminating any food groups,
FIT refers to us being active physically, mentally & emotionally
REPEAT the above two to make it a lifestyle and improve its quality.
