“Bulletproof Heart” seems to be a significant departure from the more hopeful tone of your last single, “All That I Am.” What was the emotional catalyst for writing this song, and how did you navigate that shift in your creative process? · I was inspired by real-life experiences and wanted to connect with both men and women who’ve gone through the pain of giving too much and receiving very little in return. At the same time, I wanted to reflect how difficult it can be to walk away, even when you know you should. You’ve mentioned that the inspiration for all your songs comes from your love for “a girl.” How personal is the story behind “Bulletproof Heart,” and what was it like to write a song about giving so much and receiving so little in return? · I’d say Bulletproof Heart is a deeply personal song. It was painful to write at times, but also incredibly therapeutic to put my feelings into words. Collaborating with Andrew Lane and Kelly James truly brought the song to life. Their exceptional songwriting talents made the whole experience possible. This is the first time you’ve worked with both Andrew Lane and Kelly James Schoenfeld as co-writers and producers. What did they bring to the creative process, and how did their collaboration help shape the final sound and message of the song? · They both brought amazing ideas to the table, and Kelly James was especially helpful in guiding me through the vocal work on Bulletproof Heart. Kelly and Drew really worked their magic on the production side refining everything and making the track sound incredible. We made a great team, and it was truly a fantastic experience working with them. The title “Bulletproof Heart” is very evocative. Was that the working title from the beginning, or did it evolve as you were writing? What does the phrase mean to you, and how does it relate to the person the song is about? · We stayed committed to Bulletproof Heart from start to finish, and the concept carried us through the entire writing process. The idea started with my heart being unbreakable but then evolved into showing how it can still be pierced by life’s challenges yet it keeps going. The phrase ‘Bulletproof Heart’ can mean many things, but to me, it represents a love that doesn’t fade, no matter how many times it’s been hurt or let down. You’ve said you hope the song will convey a message of hope and healing. How do you find hope in a story about unrequited love, and what do you want listeners to take away from the track when they’re going through similar struggles? · Even if things aren’t working right now, sometimes it’s worth holding on—because if it’s real love, it’s meant to be, and hope will carry you through. For some, it may take more than one love to find the right one, but through healing and growth, you’ll eventually find the person who’s truly meant for you—the one who will treat you with the love and respect you deserve. ![]() Your debut duet, “Finally,” featured Izabellah Rae. Could you see yourself collaborating with other artists in the future, and if so, what kind of artist would you want to work with on a track that explores the themes you write about? · I can definitely see myself collaborating with other artists in the future, but I don’t think I’ll limit myself to just country music. I’m still discovering my voice, and it might evolve toward pop or even rock. I’ve always felt that love is a powerful and universal theme one I’d like to keep exploring. And it doesn’t always have to be romantic love; it can be love for yourself, your passions, or life itself. “Bulletproof Heart” is just your third single release. What are your long-term goals for your music, and where do you see your sound evolving in the next year or two? · I’m definitely starting to step into the rock world, and one of my long-term goals is to form a band—hopefully within the next couple of years. It’s something I’m really passionate about and excited to build toward. The music video for “Bulletproof Heart” is premiering on August 30. Can you give us a little sneak peek into what fans can expect from the visual component of the song? · Horses, nature, the outdoors, and pure passion, they’re all big inspirations for me. Your music is often described as exploring themes of love and emotional resilience. Do you feel that sharing these personal, and sometimes painful, experiences through your songs helps you heal, or is it more about connecting with your audience? · I think it’s a bit of both, actually. The more I sing from my emotions, the easier it becomes to heal and gain understanding. Plus, I love being able to connect with an audience through that honesty. What advice would you give to someone who feels like they’re in a similar situation to the one described in “Bulletproof Heart”? · Never give up, stay relentless, and don’t let doubt hold you back. |
