Tech companies are finding it increasingly difficult to keep new products under wraps. Google appears to have given up and released a video of the Pixel 10 itself after fresh render leaks of the base Pixel 10 surfaced yesterday and Pixel 10 Pro leaks this morning.
The business now displays a brief sequence on a Google Store page for the Pixel 10 where the number 10 changes into a Pixel camera bar before zooming out to show the phone in all its splendor. The store site and URL simply refer to “Pixel 10,” however the manufacturer did not specify if this is the base model or the pro model. Nevertheless, the phone in the video does resemble the speculated Pixel 10 Pro much more.
That’s a little sad because the base Pixel 10 will be significantly different from the previous model. The (seeming) Pixel 10 Pro in Google’s video appears to be nearly identical to the Pixel 9 Pro, despite rumors that the standard Pixel 10 would have a new telephoto lens (at the expense of some ultrawide fidelity).
That implies no features were lost, but it also likely means only minor enhancements. One important conclusion, however, is that since the leaks for the Pixel 10 Pro appear to have been accurate, the leaks for the standard Pixel 10, which were confirmed by the same source as the leaks for the 10 Pro, may also be accurate. This is significant since it appears to confirm that, depending on how important zoom is to you, the standard Pixel 10 will in fact have a camera system that is possibly worse than its predecessor.
In any case, eliminating all the “maybes” below won’t take much time: At 1 p.m. EST on August 20, a stream of the new Pixel 10 smartphones will take place before the whole lineup goes on sale. Google is anticipated to unveil the Pixel Watch 4 and a Pixel 10 Pro Fold in addition to the standard Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro.
