Google is now prepared to release Android 16 stable to the general public for Pixel phones that support it, following more than six months of testing. Google had already stated that Android 16 would ship in June, earlier than planned. The company has now given a specific date: June 10 is the day of the final release.
The Android Developers account verified in a post on X that the final release of Android 16 will occur on June 10. Google almost never confirms a big Android release date a day ahead of time. However, the business has used this tactic by announcing the release of multiple Android 16 beta releases one day ahead of schedule.
The June 2025 Feature Drop and the release of Android 16 are scheduled to coincide, so even non-Pixel users should be able to enjoy new goods and features. A number of new features and enhancements should be added to the Pixel Watch lineup, which Google switched to a quarterly update schedule.
Please be aware that your Pixel will not receive the OTA update to stable Android 16 if it is currently running the Android 16 QPR1 Beta. The update will only be available for Pixels running Android 15 stable or Android 16 beta.
You have to downgrade your Pixel to the stable Android 16 release and exit the beta program if your smartphone is in the QPR1 beta channel. But doing so will remove all of the phone’s data.
The best features of Android 16 won’t be available until later this year.
Google’s new Material 3 Expressive design will not be available in the release Android 16 build, but it will have many other enhancements and new capabilities. You can easily give real-time notification updates with Live Updates, which is Google’s version of the iPhone’s Live Activities. It should make it much easier to stay up to date on your sports results or food delivery status.
With Android 16, Google will further strengthen security and include an Advanced Protection mode. All security settings will be consolidated and unified under a single menu for convenient access. Additionally, there will be new features like Inactivity Reboot and Intrusion Logging, but many of them won’t be available until later in the year.
