Google is introducing a new feature that will allow Gmail users to change their email address without affecting their existing data and services. This update appears to be rolling out first in India or Hindi-speaking markets, but it is expected to eventually reach all users worldwide.
With this feature, the old email address will remain active as an alias, ensuring that emails sent to it will still arrive in the user’s inbox. All existing data, including messages, emails, photos, and other content, will remain intact, eliminating the need to create a new account and manually transfer data.
Users will be able to change their Gmail address up to three times, with only one change allowed per year. This limitation ensures that the feature is used carefully while maintaining account security and stability.
This change addresses a long-standing request from Gmail users who previously had to create a new account whenever they wanted a different email address. By keeping all previous data intact, Google simplifies account management and reduces the hassle for users.
In recent updates, Google has also focused on improving the Gmail experience in other ways. A new interface now allows users to view all purchase and delivery updates in one organized list, helping track packages efficiently. Additionally, the “Manage subscriptions” tool lets users easily unsubscribe from unwanted emails from a single dashboard.
These ongoing improvements highlight Google’s commitment to enhancing Gmail’s usability and user convenience, making it easier for people to manage their email and account settings.
