GT youngster remembers bidding war before IPL 2023 opener: “My auction stopped at 1.10 cr and I was like ‘So soon?'”

Several well-known athletes were recruited by the Gujarat Titans, led by Hardik Pandya, at the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction last year.

At the renowned Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday, the reigning champion Gujarat Titans (GT) will begin their championship defence in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against the powerful Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The IPL’s 2023 season opener, a titanic match between Gujarat and Chennai, will also be the richest T20 league in the globe. Pandya’s Gujarat Titans made substantial gains by signing some of the biggest stars at the IPL auction last year after winning the illustrious trophy in their inaugural season.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mavi’s former team, placed the opening offer at the auction for the Indian pacer. After that, Mavi started a bidding conflict between Gujarat and Rajasthan Royals (RR), which the reigning winners ultimately won. Gujarat Titans acquired the Indian fast bowler at the IPL auction for the startling amount of INR 6 crore. The U-19 World Cup champion has participated in 32 IPL games. In 2018, Mavi made his debut at Eden Gardens against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), a previous champion. Mavi, a quick bowler, has 30 wickets in the lucrative competition. The Indian speedster has also participated in six T20 International matches for Team India.
