Lexus introduces the 2026 ES sedan, which features significant technological advancements, contemporary appearance, and hybrid and electric variants.
With the release of the revised 2026 ES sedan, Lexus has taken one of its most enduring nameplates in a bolder, more electrified direction. The new ES made its debut at Auto Shanghai and has both hybrid and completely electric powertrains, as well as significant exterior modifications and state-of-the-art electronics.
The most obvious modification is the removal of the brand’s iconic spindle grille in favor of a sleeker, more aerodynamic front end that is evocative of Toyota’s bZ4X EV. In addition to being 6.5 inches longer, 2.1 inches wider, and 4.3 inches taller than the previous model, the ES also has a 3.1-inch longer wheelbase for increased interior room and ride comfort.
Lexus has a simple, screen-focused interior design. Digital interfaces, exemplified by a 14.2-inch center infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch driver display, have virtually replaced traditional buttons. A second passenger-side screen is one of the optional options that mimics the opulent designs of Mercedes-Benz’s most recent models. The new Executive Package, which includes reclining, massaging rear seats and other comfort features for passengers in the backseat, and a panoramic dimmable glass roof are also added to the cabin.
In terms of powertrains, Lexus is providing the ES 350h hybrid, which has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an integrated eAxle and can be equipped with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, to customers in the United States. More significantly, the lineup will include two fully electric models: the ES 350e with front-wheel drive and the ES 500e with all-wheel drive. The dual-motor ES 500e produces 338 horsepower and a 0–60 mph sprint time of 5.9 seconds, while the ES 350e has 221 horsepower and a range of up to 300 miles.
Although Lexus has not yet disclosed pricing information, the company has stated that the 2026 ES series would be available in stores sometime in the upcoming year, demonstrating its dedication to fusing cutting-edge technology with classic elegance.
