In response to growing requests for processing power, OpenAI has added Alphabet’s Google Cloud to its roster of vendors, as per an updated list posted on the ChatGPT manufacturer’s website.
Additionally, the artificial intelligence behemoth depends on CoreWeave, Oracle, and Microsoft services.
According to a revised list posted on the ChatGPT manufacturer’s website, OpenAI has added Alphabet’s Google Cloud to its roster of vendors in order to satisfy growing demands for processing power.
The massive artificial intelligence company also uses services from CoreWeave, Oracle, and Microsoft.
After months of negotiations, the agreement with Google was finally reached in May. A person with knowledge of the situation first revealed the transaction in June.
In addition to being OpenAI’s most recent attempt to diversify its compute sources beyond its primary supporter Microsoft, including its well-known Stargate data center project, the agreement highlights how the enormous computing demands to train and deploy AI models are changing the competitive dynamics in AI.
Earlier this year, OpenAI inked multi-billion-dollar contracts with CoreWeave to increase processing capacity and collaborated with SoftBank and Oracle on the $500 billion Stargate infrastructure development.
The collaboration with Google is the most recent of OpenAI’s various strategies to lessen its reliance on Microsoft, whose Azure cloud service was the ChatGPT maker’s sole source for data center infrastructure up until January.
After months of discussions, Google and OpenAI were unable to finalize a transaction because of OpenAI’s exclusivity with Microsoft.
