Polestar Automobiles Releases Their First Smartphone

Lately, a number of Chinese tech companies have begun to enter the smartphone market. While Moondrop Audio hinted at its first phone earlier this year, Nio, an EV manufacturer, released its first smartphone last year. Polestar, a company that specializes in electric vehicles, has recently introduced the Polestar Phone.

Given that both of these businesses are owned by the massive Chinese automaker Geely, the new Polestar Phone is essentially a rebranded Meizu smartphone. The Meizu 21 Pro, the rebranded smartphone in question, debuted in February of this year with flagship-caliber specifications.

The Polestar Phone, which is limited to China, has the same specifications as the Meizu 21 Pro. This includes a tall 6.79-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a resolution of 1368 x 3192 pixels. It features 1 billion colors, HDR10+ compatibility, and Meizu Titan Glass 2.0 protection. It has an uncommon ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that promises significantly quicker unlock times.

The flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, which can be combined with up to 1 TB of non-expandable storage and 16 GB of RAM, powers the device’s hardware. Like Meizu phones, it boots up Android 14 with FlymeOS on top. A 13MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto lens with a 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization comprise the triple-camera configuration.

To power other accessories or even smartphones, the 5,050 mAh battery supports 80W fast wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. But this gadget’s integration with Polestar EVs will be its biggest selling point. Only the Polestar 4 is currently compatible with phone connectivity.

Pricing for a Polestar phone is still unknown because it can only be ordered via the Polestar app.
