According to reports, Google’s ‘Gemini Intelligence’ updates for Android may first be available on Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold 8 and other foldable devices.
Reports indicate that Gemini Intelligence will be introduced for the first time in the Galaxy series through the Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 as part of One UI 9. This suggests that Google is likely to roll out these features, at least in the initial phase, around July-August.
This development is not particularly surprising. Google has confirmed that Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices will receive Gemini Intelligence starting “this summer,” and the timeline suggests that the launch could occur just a few weeks before the introduction of Google’s Pixel 11 series. However, it is possible that Samsung’s new foldables will be the first to receive access unless the Pixel 10 is granted access simultaneously, which seems quite probable.
What exactly is Gemini Intelligence?
Google unveiled this initiative alongside Android 17, aiming to transform the operating system into an “intelligence system.” The first set of features will include a new design language for Gemini when performing tasks, enhanced autofill that utilizes data from other Google applications, Gboard voice-to-text “Rambler” that can correct errors as you speak, and “Create my Widget” for generating homescreen widgets using text prompts.
Gemini Intelligence introduces new UI widgets and Gboard ‘Rambler’ to Android, making its debut on Pixel and Samsung devices.
One UI 9 is also anticipated to be released on Samsung’s new foldables, with the Android 17-based update currently available in beta.
Samsung’s Unpacked event for these new foldables is reportedly scheduled for July 22.
