Vivo T5 Pro 5G is confirmed to launch in India on April 15th at 12 noon. This follows the Vivo T4 Pro, which was priced at Rs 27,999 last year and occupied the upper mid-range market. This time, Vivo is designing the phone with a significantly larger battery while maintaining the overall specifications within the same segment expectations. The Flipkart microsite is now active, indicating that the phone will be available for purchase on the platform.
The confirmed specifications include a 9,020mAh battery and a Snapdragon chipset. This battery capacity significantly exceeds what is typically found in phones priced between Rs 30,000 and Rs 35,000, where even those designed for battery longevity generally max out at around 6,000 to 7,000mAh. The previous model featured a 6,500mAh battery. Additionally, Vivo has stated that the phone will have a thickness of 8.25mm, indicating that the device’s size is not increasing in relation to the battery capacity. Furthermore, support for 120fps gaming has been confirmed, which typically indicates an effort to maintain stable performance during extended gaming sessions rather than merely achieving high output for short periods.
Vivo T5 Pro design misses an element from the T4 Pro
The shift in design is easy to spot when compared to the Vivo T4 Pro. The T5 Pro is shown in a whitish finish and uses a flatter frame and a more restrained back panel with a brushed, matte-like texture. There could be a black option too, going by the Flipkart teaser. The camera module is compact, with two large lenses placed inside a single rounded rectangle, and there are no additional elements around it. In comparison, the earlier model used a more layered layout and included the ring-style Aura Light next to the cameras. That element doubled as a fill light and also gave the phone a distinct look. Its absence here makes the design simpler and easier to read, but also less recognisable.
Leaks indicate that the phone may come equipped with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display boasting a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, an upgrade from the 120Hz seen in the previous version. It is anticipated that the camera will utilize the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset along with a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor, suggesting gradual enhancements rather than a significant overhaul in hardware. Furthermore, the device is expected to maintain its IP68 and IP69 ratings. The anticipated pricing is projected to be between Rs 30,000 and Rs 35,000, positioning it above the T4 Pro and more in line with devices such as the OnePlus Nord 6. This comparison with the OnePlus model is noteworthy, as the latter recently launched in India at Rs 38,999, featuring a 9,000mAh battery.
Most smartphones in this category now provide similar display quality and comparable everyday performance, making battery life a more prominent differentiator. For consumers, this simplifies the decision-making process. If extended usage and reduced charging frequency are more important, this option is suitable. However, if the focus is on camera capabilities or maximum performance, there are alternative choices within the same category that emphasize those features.
