When Poet, DJ & MC Jaysus Zain Was Skeptical About Spoken Word Scene In Abu Dhabi

Jaysus Zain is one extremely talented artist who is a poet, DJ & MC at the same time. If that’s not all, he’s an educator too. But poetry has always been closest to his heart and why not? It’s the most beautiful way in the world to communicate. Moreover, he started writing poetry when he was just 15-years-old so it has to be special for him.

Jaysus has been closely connected to the Spoken Word scene. But 7 years back when he came to Abu Dhabi he didn’t expect much. In an interview with Abu Dhabi World, he mentioned how Rooftop Rhythms was one of the few open mics at that time. “Now it’s blooming. I think people started to realise that sharing your thoughts is cool. People usually keep those things to themselves but now they realise it’s okay to open up.” he said.

“In the beginning, the performers [at Rooftop Rhythms] would be American or other expats. All of a sudden I started seeing more Arabs and Emiratis and that for me was a shocking experience. You don’t often hear Emiratis speaking about normal things that we go through in life and make it sound as if they live in the States or UK.” he added.

Jaysus Zain is quite active on social media and loves to stay connected with his fans. He keeps on sharing the updates from his day to day life on the digital world.

Earlier when he became a part of Expo 2020 Dubai, Jaysus announced an exciting giveaway for his Instagram family. The giveaway provided an opportunity to his fans to win 2 couple passes for the event.

“GIVEAWAY!! So excited to join the biggest show in the world as I’ll be performing tonight 14th October @expo2020dubai at the Dubai Millennium Amphitheater at 11:00 pm! I’m also happy to share these moments with my “Fanily” 😉!” his post read as saying.
