YouTube TV is getting ready to undergo a significant transformation after launching its multiview feature in 2023. They will be customizable by users.
YouTube made the announcement in conjunction with the company’s 20th anniversary. Although the release stated that the change would take effect “in the next few weeks,” it is unclear when this will actually happen.
Consequently, viewers will have the option to select which channels to view in their quad-, triple-, or double-boxes. It’s unclear if the adjustments will affect NFL Sunday Ticket.
According to a press release from YouTube, “YouTube TV members can experiment with building their own multiview with select non-sports content in the coming weeks, starting with a small group of popular channels and expanding in the coming months.”
Sports lovers love the multiview option since it allows them to watch many games at once. Additionally, it is an essential component of NFL Sunday Ticket, which YouTube purchased in 2023 following the termination of its agreement with DirecTV. Users must navigate through the list of options to determine which events they can watch simultaneously, as multiviews are currently preset.
YouTube TV also stated that it intends to revamp its user interface. Along with other enhancements, it contains modifications to playback and navigation.
“This summer, get ready for an upgrade in TV viewing!” YouTube stated. “Your screens will soon have improved playback, navigation, and quality adjustments in addition to simplified access to comments, channel information, and subscribing.”
Ahead of March Madness, YouTube TV and Paramount recently had a carriage issue. If the issue had continued into April, fans would not have been able to watch the NCAA Tournament or The Masters if the networks, which include CBS, TBS, TNT, and truTV, had been blacked out.
But after reaching an agreement, YouTube was spared the loss of those channels. This meant that as spring drew near, YouTube TV viewers could watch those major events.
YouTube TV announced, “We’re pleased to announce that we’ve come to an agreement to continue carrying Paramount content on YouTube TV.” This implies that channels like CBS, CBS Sports, and Nickelodeon are still available to you. Additionally unaffected are add-ons like Paramount+ with SHOWTIME and BET+.
With this deal, YouTube TV will keep providing over 100 channels while giving users more options going forward. As always, we value your membership and thank you for your patience.
