Samsung surpasses Apple and Google by incorporating AI into a new smartphone

Though we always knew this day would come, artificial intelligence (AI) is almost ready to move into our very own hands.

When Samsung releases the new Galaxy S series on January 17, it will outpace Apple and Google in the mobile AI space. According to the company, this move will set “a higher standard for the most intelligent mobile experience yet.”

The announcement will be made live on Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom, and Samsung’s YouTube channel starting at 10 a.m. PST, 1 p.m. EST, 6 p.m. GMT, and 7 p.m. CET. The reveal will happen at Samsung’s “Unpacked” show in San Jose.

What makes you need to worry?

AI Tool Report’s Martin Crowley and Liam Lawson said in an email to ConsumerAffairs that the new Samsung device might have advanced AI features for text message replies, image generation from text prompts, and on-device AI chatbots (kind of like a smaller, offline ChatGPT).

We haven’t really seen a smartphone release that is exclusively focused on AI, so Samsung’s focus on AI integration represents a significant step in the smartphone industry, according to Crowley and Lawson.

“Samsung’s decision to include cutting-edge AI in its new lineup of phones emphasizes the expanding significance of AI in mobile technology.” Maybe this is the breakthrough the smartphone industry has been waiting for?

Must possess one?

Regarding pricing, Samsung is holding back a bit, but X user Spynox that a French-language document outlining the terms and conditions for a Galaxy S24 series has been leaked online.

According to TechRadar’s analysis of that document, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus will retail for approximately €1,281 and the presumed S24 for €899, or $985 in US dollars.

According to CyboTech in the video above, if someone is desperate for this new S24 series, they can reserve one in advance and receive a $50 discount by visiting Samsung’s website and entering their name and email address.

“Depending on where you were located, you could expect some perks like getting double the storage for free and receiving a discount coupon for either the Galaxy watch or the Galaxy Buds Fe,” stated CyboTech.

“If you’re interested in those accessories, it’s a good incentive to pre-order.”
