Microsoft quietly updates Android with the Copilot AI assistant app

Microsoft just released a new Android app, which you probably missed if you weren’t looking for it specifically. Last week, the tech giant quietly launched a Copilot app on the Google Play Store.

The Copilot app appears to have been available in the Play Store since December 19, 2023, as discovered by Neowin.

The app is available for Android, but it doesn’t appear that Microsoft has released an iOS version yet. However, the Bing app on iOS provides a nearly identical experience.

The GPT-4 and DALL-E 3 algorithms from OpenAI power the Copilot app, giving it chatbot-like features akin to those of ChatGPT. This implies that in addition to creating text for emails, you can also create images and ask questions.

On the other hand, Copilot allows you to use GPT-4 without cost and can be downloaded for free, unlike ChatGPT.

As stated by Microsoft on the “About this app” page, Copilot is:

You can download Microsoft Copilot from the Play Store right now. The Copilot app requires Android 11 or later in order to function. In addition, 86.33MB of free space are required for the app’s download and installation.
