Apple launches iPhone iOS 17.2; check benefits coming your way with the Journal app to Sticker reactions

As some reports had indicated, Apple released the iOS 17.2 update for compatible iPhones prior to the end of the year. The most recent update has a number of enhancements and new features in addition to significant bug fixes. The Journal app, which Apple first unveiled at the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) as a specialized app for taking notes and keeping memories, is the most noteworthy addition to this update. Other features include the Messages app’s Sticker Reactions, Apple Music’s Favorites tab, spatial video recording, and more. To get the most out of them, let’s investigate them all.

Release of iOS 17.2

This is Apple’s final iOS update for the year. Although the iOS 17.3 beta for developers is already available, the worldwide stable version is not anticipated to release until late January or early February. Let’s now examine the new features that iOS 17.2 brings to iPhones.

Journal application

According to Apple, Journal is a new app that allows you to write about both significant and little moments in your life in order to cultivate appreciation and enhance your wellbeing. The app includes features like journaling suggestions, which group your workouts, photos, outings, and more into moments you can add to your journal, making it simple to remember your experiences.

Filters enable you to view entries with attachments or quickly locate bookmarked entries, allowing you to go back and consider significant life events. Additionally, it offers a feature called Scheduled notifications that can help you maintain a regular journaling routine by reminding you to write on the days and times of your choosing. You can also choose to use Touch ID or Face ID to lock your journal.

Click the Action Button to translate

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max now have the Translate option on the Action Button, allowing users to rapidly translate words or carry on a conversation in a foreign language. This feature was added in the iOS 17.2 update.

Capturing Spatial Video

Using Apple Vision Pro, you can relive your memories in three dimensions by using spatial video, which is a feature of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Furthermore, the telephoto camera focusing speed on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max has been enhanced by the update when capturing small, distant objects.

Messenger app

There are several significant updates to the Messages app. By tapping the arrow that is visible in the upper right corner of the conversation, you can quickly navigate to your first unread message thanks to the recently added Catch-up arrow. Aside from that, you can add a sticker straight to a bubble using the context menu’s Add Sticker option. The ability to change any Memoji’s body shape is one of the updates for Memoji. Lastly, Contact Key Verification helps confirm that individuals confronting unusual digital threats are communicating only with the individuals they intend to by sending out automated alerts and Contact Verification Codes.

Conditions

Precipitation is a new feature included in the iOS 17.2 update. According to Apple, it assists you in monitoring the rain and snow conditions for the upcoming ten days on a particular day. The daily forecast, sunrise and sunset timings, next-hour precipitation, and current conditions like wind speed, air quality, and feels like are all available with the new widgets. You can also rapidly evaluate wind patterns and access the animated wind map overlay with the Wind map snapshot, which will help you get ready for the wind conditions that are predicted for the next 24 hours. And last, an interactive moon calendar will make it simple for you to see the moon’s phase on any given day in the upcoming month.

The following enhancements and bug fixes have also been included in the iOS 17.2 update.

• AirDrop enhancements include more contact-sharing choices and the capability to pair up two iPhones to share boarding passes, movie tickets, and other compatible passes.

You can easily return to the songs you’ve marked as favorites in Apple Music by using the Favorite Songs Playlist.

You can turn off Use Listening History in Apple Music in Focus to prevent your current playlist from showing up in Recently Played or Influencing your recommendations.

With the help of a new Digital Clock Widget, you can quickly check the time both on your Home Screen and in StandBy. With the help of Enhanced AutoFill, you can fill in fields in PDFs and other forms with data from your contacts, including names and addresses.

You won’t be unintentionally shown a sticker featuring nudity thanks to Messages’ Sensitive Content Warning for stickers.

• Support for Qi2 chargers for every iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 model.
Apple has mentioned that not all regions or Apple devices will be able to access all features when the update is released.
