Arriving in Malaysia on December 22, 2023: HONOR X8b and X7b

Two additional X-series smartphones from Honor will be available in Malaysia later this month, the company announced today. These are the X8b and X7b models, which are essentially redesigned X8a and X7a models with a few minor hardware upgrades, such as switching from MediaTek to Snapdragon chipsets.

A 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a refresh rate of 90Hz, 3240Hz PWM dimming, and 2000 nits of brightness is available on the HONOR X8b. It also has 512GB of internal storage, 16GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 680 chipset, and a fingerprint scanner mounted on the side. It is powered by a 4,500mAh battery that supports USB-C fast charging at 35W.

In terms of imaging, this model has three cameras on its back: a 2MP macro, a 5MP ulta-wide, and a 108MP primary. The first is a minor improvement over the HONOR X8a, which has a 100MP primary sensor as its only feature. A 50MP camera with Selfie Light functionality is located up front.

The next model is the HONOR X7b, which has an entirely different design but essentially the same specs as the model mentioned above. It has a 6.7-inch screen with FHD+ resolution, 3240Hz PWM dimming, 90Hz refresh rate, and 2000 nits peak brightness, just like the X8b. Additionally, an on-board dual speaker audio system and a fingerprint sensor positioned on the side are present.

Its Snapdragon 680 chipset is paired with 256GB of internal memory and 8GB of RAM. Its battery has a whopping 6,000mAh capacity and a 35W USB-C fast charging rate.

The HONOR X7b has a triple camera setup for photography on its back, arranged in two vertical circles. This model, in contrast to the X7a, has a larger 108MP primary camera along with a 5MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro. On the other hand, an 8MP selfie camera is located inside the display’s punch-hole cutout.

Next week, on December 22, 2023, HONOR will formally introduce the X8b and X7b in Malaysia. Up until then, the company has only disclosed information about the devices’ individual costs and availability. On their e-commerce platforms, local stores seem to have already posted the prices for both devices, though. TMT states that the former costs RM899 and comes in Titanium Silver or Glamourous Green color options, while the latter costs RM799 and is available in Emerald Green or Flowing Silver color options.
