Asus has announced that the ROG Phone 8 series of gaming phones will be unveiled on January 8. On January 16, the company will introduce the ROG Phone 8 lineup in China. The ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro’s complete specifications and renders were leaked by WindowsReport in a report that was released well in advance of the devices’ launch. Here’s what to anticipate from each smartphone.

Design of the Asus ROG Phone 8 series

The forthcoming ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro, according to the leaked renders, will not resemble the conventional hardcore gaming phone design of their Forerunners. These days, the back has a noticeable camera module in the top-right corner, while the front has a punch-hole display. A RGB-lit logo and gaming mottos are also featured on the back panel. According to the report, the Pro version of the phone has a glossy rear design that makes it look more expensive than the matte finish on the ROG Phone 8. The ROG Phone 8 series’ leaked specs are shown below.

The rumored specifications of the Asus ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro

6.78-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with 165Hz refresh rate and 2500 nits of peak brightness is what the ROG Phone 8 series is expected to sport, according to the report. With a 5,500mAh battery that can be charged to 65W thanks to 3C certification, the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. A 3.5mm audio jack, a 5-magnet speaker, and an in-display fingerprint sensor are among the extra features.

The ROG Phone 8 series will have NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, and Wi-Fi 6E for connectivity. The ROG UI on Android 14 will be available on the phones. Notably, both models are IP68 rated and feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. Apart from other colors, both phones will be available in a shade called Rebel Grey.

The ROG Phone 8 Pro comes with a choice of 16 GB or 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512 GB or 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage, while the standard ROG Phone 8 comes with 12 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The rear camera configuration of the Pro variant includes a 32-megapixel selfie camera in addition to a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel telephoto lens with a 3x optical zoom. The Pro variant looks glossy and more upscale than the standard variant, which has a matte finish. It weighs 225 grams and has dimensions of 163.8 x 76.8 x 8.9 mm. Information regarding the standard model’s dimensions and cameras is currently unavailable.

A fast charger and Aero Case will also be included in the package with the ROG Phone 8 series. Additionally, Asus will sell accessories designed specifically for gamers, like the DEVILCASE Guardian phone case that works with the AeroActive Cooler X, as seen in the previously leaked photo.
