HMD Tomcat, Inspired by Nokia Lumia Design, Expected to Launch in July; Renders and Specifications Leaked

It looks that HMD is developing a new smartphone that will use the same Fabula design language from the previous Nokia Lumia line. The Finnish company has not yet confirmed the news, but according to a leak, the phone will go on sale in July. Through purported renders, the handset’s specifications and design have allegedly been made public online. The rumored HMD phone, code-named Tomcat, is supposed to be powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC with up to 12GB of RAM. It is most likely going to include a primary back camera that is 108 megapixels.

Presumptive pictures and details of a future HMD smartphone have been shared online by X user HMD Meme. A phone under the codename HMD Tomcat, according to the informant, will launch in July. It looks to be based on the Microsoft-powered Fabula design, which was influenced by the outdated Nokia Lumia 920. It has a pronounced bezel and a boxy appearance. The screen features rounded edges and a punch-out hole in the middle to accommodate a selfie stick. It appears in tones of pink, yellow, blue, and green.

The HMD Tomcat is reported to have a full-HD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and run Android 14. It could be powered by a 4nm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC with 256GB of storage and 8GB or 12GB of RAM. The phone is anticipated to come with a rear camera set that includes a depth sensor, an ultra-wide angle shooter, and a 108-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilization capabilities. It might receive a front-facing 32 megapixel camera.

HMD anticipates that the HMD Tomcat will have a 4,900mAh battery with 33W charging capability. NFC connectivity, a 3.5mm audio connector, Bluetooth 5.2, and two speakers are probably included. Both OZO and PureView audio are reportedly supported. It’s likely that the phone is built to IP67 standards.

According to a report by Nokiamob, in addition to the HMD Tomcat, the company is developing two further models with the internal names HMD Rocky and Nighthawk. A 6.5-inch LCD HD+ panel with a refresh rate of 60Hz is reportedly included in the former. Both a 5-megapixel selfie camera and a 13-megapixel back camera could be included. With up to 128GB of storage and 4GB of RAM, it most likely runs on a Unisoc SC9863A SOC. A 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging capabilities is reportedly included in the phone.
