Honor Launches Magic6 RSR: Their Highest-Priced Smartphone Yet

With two variants—Ultimate and RSR—Honor has now formally unveiled the flagship for its most recent line of Android smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Apart from the latter being a special edition bearing the Porsche Design name from the first generation, they are nearly the same. Fans of Honor have never seen its price so high thanks to its industry-first upgrades and custom customizations.

With a launch price of 9,999 yuan ($1,389), the Magic6 RSR almost looks like a better deal than the 12GB/512GB Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra currently available on Amazon.com. However, in addition to having twice the RAM and storage, the new Honor flagship smartphone offers many other improvements.

With the H9800, a modified version of OmniVision’s most recent OV50K sensor, positioned next to a 180MP periscope zoom lens, the device showcases Honor’s most advanced and potentially superior triple rear camera setup.

The 6.8-inch 1.5K display, which features the most recent 8T LTPO technology, joins those high-end shooters. The innovative Dual-Layer Tandem processing technology, which is rated to potentially significantly extend the life of an OLED screen, is the only difference between the new Honor Magic6 Ultimate Edition and its predecessor.

The unique rear panel with hexagonal camera accent, completed in the Frozen Berry or Agate Gray colorways donated by Honor’s new Limited Edition partner Porsche Design, is only available on the top-of-the-line RSR model.

However, a unique square camera hump with sweeping ridges running along its black or purple rear panels also makes the Ultimate Edition stand out.

The 5,600mAh battery powering both smartphones is identical to that of the OnePlus 12R and charges at 66W and 80W, respectively, wirelessly and wiredly.

At 6,999 yuan (~$972), the Ultimate Edition comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, making it a reasonably priced option as well. At present, it is unknown if the Magic6 in Ultimate or RSR form will be made available internationally.
