Instagram and Facebook posts for minors will be restricted by Meta

In an effort to strengthen safeguards for children, Meta Platforms said on Tuesday that it will soon start concealing “age-inappropriate” information from teen users on Facebook and Instagram.

In a blog post, the business unveiled the new guidelines, stating that it will begin deleting information related to eating disorders, suicide, and self-harm from teenagers’ news feeds and that all of the changes would take place on Facebook and Instagram in the coming months.

Additionally, the platforms will automatically place accounts belonging to users under the age of eighteen (18) in the most restrictive content management settings, and Meta is making it more challenging for teenagers to search for sensitive issues.

The new limitations on Meta come as regulators are putting more pressure on the business to shield children from inappropriate information on its apps.
