Mike Hart come backs to Michigan as new running backs coach

Michigan is recruiting Mike Hart, the Wolverines’ all-time leading rusher, as running backs mentor, the school declared Wednesday.

Hart set Michigan precedents for hurrying yards (5,040 yards) and conveys (1,015) and scored 41 surging scores as a four-year starter. He won Big Ten Freshman of the Year praises in 2004 and was a three-time first-group All-Big Ten determination. He additionally twice was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award and completed fifth in the Heisman Trophy casting a ballot in 2006. Hart set a group precedent with 28 games with at least 100 hurrying yards.

“Michigan has always held a special place in my heart,” Hart said in a statement. “It is a place that always believed in me and a place that I have always believed in. I am excited to join Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan staff, and can’t wait to get to work with a talented running back group.”

Hart, 34, went through the previous four years training running backs at Indiana.

A 6th round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2008, Hart played three NFL seasons prior to entering training at Eastern Michigan. He later trained running backs at Western Michigan and Syracuse prior to joining Indiana’s staff in 2017. The Hoosiers elevated Hart to relate lead trainer in 2020.

Michigan a week ago declared another four-year contract for Harbaugh, who is 49-22 of every six seasons yet went 2-4 out of 2020.
