Nothing Phone 2 Gets NothingOS 2.5.5 Update: Introducing ChatGPT Integration, UltraXDR, and More

Nothing Phone 2 was released in July 2023 and came pre-installed with Nothing OS 2.0, which is based on Android 13. Since then, the phone has received the latest NothingOS 2.5.5 update and has been updated to Android 14. Along with bug fixes and other enhancements, this update brings ChatGPT integration. In the meantime, Nothing debuted its newest earbuds, the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear A, on April 18. By using the pinch-to-speak gesture, users of these earphones can also access ChatGPT integration.

Nothing announced in a community post that the ChatGPT integration feature is now available to Nothing Phone 2 users with the NothingOS 2.5.5 update. For this to function, users must have installed on their phones the most recent version of ChatGPT from the Play Store. Through the integration, users of the Nothing X app can now initiate voice conversations with ChatGPT for Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear A using a new gesture option. Other Nothing audio products are expected to receive the feature in the near future.

Further ChatGPT widgets to help launch ChatGPT in various modes from the Phone 2 home screen are also included in the NothingOS 2.5.5 update. Users can now paste content directly into a new ChatGPT conversation by using a new button that shows up on the screenshot and in the clipboard pop-up that comes with this update.

The NothingOS 2.5.5 update for the Nothing Phone 2 also includes camera enhancements. Through the Camera settings on the phone, users can now enable Ultra XDR on the phone’s camera. In the Camera app, an XDR switch is also added to the Photo and Portrait Modes.

Additional features added by the most recent update include RAM booster, which is accessible through Settings > System > RAM Booster. Ring Mode, a feature that lets users quickly switch between different sound settings, has been added to Phone 2’s Quick Settings feature with the NothingOS 2.5.5 update. A Glyph Interface Debug Mode, which is designed to give app developers more control over the Glyph UI, is also available to users in the developer options, along with new Recorder and Battery widgets.
