OPPO Reno 12 to Reportedly Feature MediaTek Dimensity 8250 SoC

During its MediaTek Dimensity Developer Conference (MDDC) 2024, MediaTek unveiled the Dimensity 9300+ SoC. The company also announced the Dimensity 8250 SoC, which is a scaled-down version of the Dimensity 8300 SoC, at the event.

With its next smartphone, the OPPO Reno12, the company is rumored to be the first to use the Dimensity 8250 SoC, also referred to as the Dimensity 8200 Star Speed Edition.

This Octa-Core SoC is reportedly based on the TSMC 4nm process and has the same Mali-G610 MC6 as the Dimensity 8200, along with 1 Arm Cortex-A78 prime core that can operate at up to 3.1 GHz, 3 Arm Cortex-A78 performance cores at 3.0 GHz, and 4 Arm Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz.

MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition is rumored to be used with Reno12 Pro. With the goal of maximizing end-to-end gaming potential, both of these chips will come equipped with the fully upgraded MediaTek Star Speed Engine.

Key technologies utilized by the MediaTek Star Speed Engine include precise system monitoring, robust computing power control capabilities, and network quality monitoring systems. According to the company, it assists game developers in producing high-quality experiences with realistic and fluid graphics, quicker touch and network response times, and extended battery life, enabling gamers to enjoy immersive, full-frame gaming experiences.

Recall that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoCs are used in the Reno11 and Reno11 Pro, which were unveiled in China in November of last year. It is unclear if a Snapdragon-powered Reno12 Pro+ model, similar to the Reno10 series, will be available as both phones in the Reno12 series use MediaTek SoCs.

Later this month, the phones from the OPPO Reno12 series are anticipated to be unveiled.
