DxOMark measures image and video quality in a strictly regulated setting, independently benchmarking smartphone camera performance.

The benchmarking company rates the front and rear cameras of each smartphone based on its testing, and then uses that rating to rank the devices.

“The overall score is composed of a total of five sub-scores: Photo, Zoom, Bokeh, Preview, and Video, allowing for a quick comparison among tested smartphone cameras,” explained DxOMark. “Measurements reproducing real-life usages run in our labs as well as tests in natural scenes.”

In order to evaluate various aspects of each camera, it tests devices in a variety of settings and scenarios.
