Amoré King shows fellow artist how to win in the face of COVID-19

As we all know, COVID-19 has changed society forever. From the health crisis to the huge increase in joblessness, it has been damaging to say the least. For people in the creative sectors, it has been startling as well. Rapper Amoré King shared his thoughts on the topic. “We’ve never had a handbook to navigate the music industry. Now we’re really in uncharted territory.”  Artists aren’t doing many shows and it can be hard to reach fans at these times.  The solution? Well according to Amoré King “Listen, just do the work! It’s human nature to find the quickest route to do anything. Sometimes the quickest and easiest solution is to put your head down and do the work.” he states pretty matter-of-factly.

Growing up in both Kinston, NC and Louisville, KY Amoré fashions himself very diverse.  It’s that diversity that is helping him thrive musically, despite COVID. “Kinston was chill and southern.  Everyone knows everyone. Interactions with one person tend to cause unintended interaction with others. He continues. “This forced me to be more calculated and deliberate with the decisions I made. I learned quickly that every action has consequences. Some immediate, some show later, and some are compounding. People from Louisville get the game early. They’re hustlers. This helped me learn my own hustle and how to navigate in a different terrain.” From the lessons learned in both cities Amoré shaped his resolve.

Amoré is very passionate about his craft. He speaks on numerous ways to grow as an artist. “Doing the work is making a game plan and seeing it through to completion.” Amoré states. He says he’s up early every day, putting email list together. He sends out semiweekly updates of what’s going on with him musically to his fans & supporters. He follows that by compiling list. These lists sometimes include writers at publications he will reach out to other times they’re playlisting opportunities. Then Amoré reaches out individually to people on each list with personalized messages. He also leans on his trusty whiteboard and dry eraser. There he writes down new songs as they’re completed.  This serves as a reminder of the work done and the work to come. “I find that what you can visualize, if you write it down, in short time it can become your reality.” Based on the growth in Spotify streams, and Instagram followers it appears Amoré King is correct.  “Whenever and if ever COVID dies down. I’m ready.  New music is coming and the fans have been holding me down. I’m steadily gaining fans! That was always the goal and I’m hitting the goal. Any others dedicated artist can too. Just stick to the game plan.”
