How Nisha Kapoor Paints Her Dreams–Much Like Van Gogh Did

Ever since she was young, Indian artist Nisha Kapoor has exhibited her creativity through various mediums. She was an ace dancer, writer, and creative marketer among other things. But recently, she has taken her expressiveness to another art form: painting.

However, Nisha admits that she had never considered herself a painter. Instead, the art of painting chose her–and it was right to do so.

Because of her unique pieces that were inspired by her metaphysical experiences, Nisha has gained unprecedented international recognition in a very short period since she began. Her paintings are featured in two separate books on Top 50 contemporary artists. These books will be kept in the British Library as well as the National Library of Spain. Nisha also has representations from 12  international art galleries.

Painting Her Dreams

Throughout her life, Nisha has been having a lot of spiritual experiences. During these epiphanies, she gets transported to a state of trance and has lucid dreams.

Specifically, about 2 years ago, Nisha was immersed in a spa in a parlor and fell off in a state of deep sleep where she started having lucid 5D dreams again, with very beautiful, out-of-the-world visions.

It was unlike her prior experiences because this event was so compelling that she felt the need to draw what she saw the moment she came home.

“My body physically could not resist drawing. And that is how I started drawing –just two years ago. I was always in a corporate job and started painting alongside after this incident,” Nisha explained.

“I was drawn to painting as a result of various spiritual experiences I had and most of my artworks are the ones I dream of during these mystic experiences,” she said. “Infact i read Van Gogh’s quote -I dream my painting and paint my dreams- much after my own experiences and was surprised they echoed his”

Nisha translates her vivid, metaphysical experiences into authentic pieces that fully embody her versatile art style ranging from mystic, psychedelic, experimental, abstract and is known to create “unique and never seen before” like art pieces.

Another Avenue For Her Creativity

Being a painter isn’t the only way that Nisha expresses her creativity. Aside from the canvas, she also uses the big screen as a medium for her unique ideas.

As a filmmaker, Nisha has won awards at 14 film festivals with seven of her films being IMDb approved. Her recent short film entitled “Love Thy Neighbor” has been praised by the likes of The New York Weekly and Entertainment Monthly. This credit was all just for the film trailer. The full movie is scheduled to be launched soon.

Her filmmaking has also been likened to that of Tim Burton.

Whether it’s painting or filmmaking, Nisha has asserted herself as a creative person who has much more to give in the years to come.
