Nubia Z60 Ultra, a new gaming smartphone with impressive specs, is released

The Nubia Z60 Ultra is finally here after a protracted campaign of teasers. The smartphone includes a 35 mm primary camera, new UDC technology, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, among other features.

Nubia, a ZTE subsidiary, has unveiled the Z60 Ultra, the brand’s first smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Due to its under-panel front-facing camera (UDC), the Nubia Z60 Ultra is one of the more unique smartphones that was released this year. It is also one of the few models that was unveiled simultaneously in China and throughout the world. Please refer to our article on global launch for pre-order discounts and European pricing.

The Nubia Z60 Ultra uses fifth-generation UDC technology for an almost bezel-less experience, as pre-release teasers verified. In order to achieve this, Nubia has included a 6.8-inch-wide AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a peak brightness of 1,500 nits, PWM dimming at 2,160 Hz, and a native resolution of 2,480 x 1,116 pixels. The display doesn’t seem to have LTPO backplane technology, though, which is required to offer variable refresh rates.

Nevertheless, the Nubia Z60 Ultra features a vapour chamber cooling system, an 80 W wired charger, and a 6,000 mAh battery. The phone also has IP68 certification and, in keeping with Nubia’s heritage, sports a 35 mm primary camera that produces 50 MP images with an f/1.59 aperture and a 1/1.49-inch optical format. The Nubia Z60 Ultra also has an 85 mm telephoto and 18 mm ultra-wide-angle camera. Nubia’s three rear-facing cameras are all optically stabilized (OIS) for comparison.

China offers the Nubia Z60 Ultra in five different configurations, with the base model having 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The device starts at CNY 3,999 (about $562), but with 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, it costs CNY 5,999 (about $843). For more information, please visit ZTE’s website.
