Sea-Tac power outage grounds flights in Anchorage and Seattle

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) – Alaska Airlines flights are back in the air after a nationwide ground stop that was apparently caused by a power outage.

The aircraft says every one of its flights were grounded between about 4:20 a.m. and 5:15 a.m. after a power blackout in the Seattle region, where the airline’s operations are based.

Airline representative Oriana Branon says the power went out around 3:30 and went back on about an hour and a half later.

A flight booked to leave Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport bound for Seattle never took off because of the blackout.

As per Tim Thompson, a representative with Alaska Airlines, flight AS 122 had a departure time of 1:45 a.m. be that as it may, the plane was delayed and eventually canceled due to the blackout.

Thompson says travelers aboard the plane were moved to later flights early Sunday. The outage resulted in six cancelled flights and 35 delays.
