Chrissy Teigen has bowed out of an planned voice part in the Netflix comedy “Never Have I Ever” in the wake of revelations that she once engaged with online bullying against model and reality TV personality Courtney Stodden.
Teigen selected to exit an planned voice role in one episode of the upcoming Season 2 of the Netflix coming of age comedy from Mindy Kaling. The series features voice-over narration for key characters performed by guest actors.
“Never Have I Ever” revolves around an original Indian American teenage girl exploring high school while managing the loss of her father. A representative for the show said the job is required to be recast.
Teigen gave a public apology on May 12 after Stodden uncovered in a interview with Daily Beast that Teigen hassled them online 10 years prior after Stodden wedded entertainer Doug Hutchison when they were 16 and he was 60. Stodden revealed that Teigen sent them direct messages with cruel taunts, for example, “I can’t wait for you to die.”
Teigen apologized to Stodden openly in a long Twitter post in which Teigen tried to censure herself.
“Not a lot of people are lucky enough to e held accountable for all their past bulls— in front of the entire world. I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be. I was an insecure, attention seeking troll,” Teigen wrote in a Twitter post. The “Lip Sync Battle” host has 13.5 million followers on Twitter and 34.9 million followers on Instagram has not sent a tweet since her three-part apology on May 12. Her last Instagram post on May 11 featured a page from one of her cook books.
“Never Have I Ever” hails from Universal Television. Mindy Kaling made the series with Lang Fisher, who is executive producer and showrunner. Kaling additionally executive produces with 3 Arts Entertainment’s Howard Klein and David Miner.
