INTERVIEW WITH ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS STAND-UP COMEDIANS, ABBY ROBERGE

Over the last few years, the comedy industry has been filled with so much noise. With so many comedians trying to chase the dream, competition is very high and it is very hard to stand out. However, Abby Roberge has managed to surpass these challenges and has become one of the most successful stand-up comedians in the Los Angeles scene with so many fans. It is almost a war crime to be a comedy fan and not watch his shows. We have had the luck to interview him and it was such a pleasure. Here is how it went;

What motivates you to keep doing comedy?

Honestly, my love and passion for comedy are what motivates me to do it. I have been doing comedy since I was very young and the more time goes by, the more I fall in love with it. There is something magical about being able to put a smile or even a laugh on someone’s face. I enjoy doing it and it gives me fulfilment. I think there is no greater motivator than passion, if you love doing something, you become a force and nothing in this world can stop you.

Your podcast, the Melrose podcast has gained great success in a very short time, what does the future hold for it?

First of all, I would love to thank everyone for the tremendous support. We launched it about a week before the Covid 19 lockdown started but the success we have achieved is beyond our expectations considering the circumstances. We have also been able to work with some top podcasts such as NPR, Barstool Sports, Freakenomics, Call Her Daddy and so many more. In the future, we are planning on making it a podcast network and we have already discussed with some major shows that are going to be working with us. It is going to be awesome so stay tuned.

Do you think growing up in a small hippie commune and everything you have experienced has played a big role in your current success?

Well, it would be a lie to say that it hasn’t. Experiences are what make a person. I definitely think my background coming from a small commune with not many resources to help me achieve my goals pushed me to work hard. I was just a young boy with big dreams and I held on to them. When you don’t have much, it forces you to work extremely hard and when you eventually get what you want, you appreciate it better. If not with my success, my background has definitely helped me with my performance on stage. Some of my performances are just me telling stories of the things I experienced, they come out as funny but that’s exactly how they happened so yes, my experiences play a role in one way or another.

It was such an honor to interview Abby Roberge. We are definitely looking forward to seeing more of his work and endeavours.
