Rising Texas Artist Real Smokesta Nominated for Album of the year

When you think of award shows, you may think of BET Hip Hop Awards, MTV awards, The Grammy’s etc., but for an independent artist even though being nominated from these platforms is possible, being recognized by independent award shows is just as exciting.

Spice 1 & Q Bosilini artist Real Smokesta has been nominated in the Southern Entertainment Awards for his Album “September Fifteenth”. Album of the Year is one of the humblest accomplishments because it confirms that your body of work is loved by the people who listened to it. Since starting his music career Real Smokesta has been nominated 3 times with his song “Hands” featuring Billboard Charting artist Dookie Blu won Hip Hop Song of The Year at the Outlaw Radio Awards.

This year is different because this time, instead of one song his full EP is nominated. What’s unique about this EP is that it was named after his daughter’s birthday “September Fifteenth“. Honoring his daughter in this project was important to him and the EP itself is tough song for song. This is true so much that it got consideration for album of the year from fans voting.

Imagine a movie in audio format giving you notable records like “Hands” about domestic violence and “Doing My Time” (Feat San Quinn) that talks about the consequences of bad choices. These are real records with real messages, so being recognized for an ep within the Southern Entertainment Awards aka the independent Grammy’s is an accomplishment.

To dig deeper into his nominated EP his single “It’s Your Time” featuring Spice 1, El Debarge Jr & Q Bosilini landed Top 200 National Charting single for his recent success on the radio. Overall if you ask Real Smokesta how he feels about this recent nomination he would say “No other artist where I’m from (Temple, Texas) got nominated so I’m blessed to be recognized from a region that’s hard to get noticed. To be in the same category as Young Buck, Big Scarr and so many others mean a lot. To have true fans really is everything to me. Shoutout to Q Bosilini, Spice 1 and the whole Thug World South label for believing in me.”
