The Power of Words – The Relatable Voice

The Power of Words – The Relatable Voice

As someone who’s been involved with writing for my entire life, I always knew that there was something really powerful about words, but now I understand even better with the reality that working with words is a step beyond that — it’s magic.  There’s no better way to understand that than through my incredible, priceless time working with my podcast, The Relatable Voice (RV for short).

Words are incredible vessels

Have you ever noticed that two or three words, used one way or another, can drastically change a message?  The wrong words can destroy it, and the right words can give it a sense of immortality.  Words are vessels loaded with meaning, sentiment, and a sheer richness that is just unbeatable.  How we use words matters as much as what words we use in the first place, too.

My journey with words

One of the most amazing things that I found out was that, early on, words were capable of teleportation!  Even though I was in my tiny little room, I cracked open a book and found myself in the breathtaking mountains of China, or the hot sandy beaches in Australia, or even the historic ruins in Egypt with nothing other than words to transport me there.

Later in life, books became my refuge.  Books, and their worlds, gave me kindness, friendship, compassion, and healing.

RV was born

Recognizing the power of words, I was able to see just how valuable they are, especially to those who don’t have access to this information, or these voices, in traditional ways.  I wanted to share this power and magic as far as possible, and that’s a huge part of what went into my plan to start my RV podcast.

As much interest as I had in it, the various authors and creators that I’ve interviewed over 4 months, created 40 published episodes, have proven to me that I am not the only one.  Every single person that I’ve had the privilege of speaking to cares deeply and passionately about their topic area.  They yearn to share and have their voices heard to anyone who wants to hear them.  Their goal — along with me — is to change the world specifically through the power of words.  They do this through sharing incredible stories through their books — immortalizing what they have to say for the rest of us.

What I’ve learned along the way

In my interviewing process, from interviewing authors, specialists in mental health, those who write about immgration, and more, is that something like RV also creates a sense of community.  In a time where we are forced to stay apart physically, it creates a network and a family of other people who are interested in what you are, and creates a global network of educators, learners, and fans.

Where the RV is going next

Partnering up with Brand.Education, the articles from my interviewed guests, and their podcast episode, can be published in a special eMagazine that pushes their content to Google News, Flipboard and more.  The further it goes, the more people you reach.

I’m so grateful to be along for the ride and it’s changed my life to be able to interact with so many talented people.  Here’s to many more opportunities!
